We Are All Called To Become Robosaints

Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan, in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy (Weller) who is murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products as the cyborg law enforcer RoboCop. Unaware of his former life, RoboCop executes a brutal campaign against crime while coming to terms with the lingering fragments of his humanity

I really loved this movie when I was a kid. It was strictly over 18s but it was one of those movies I watched behind my Dads back. Come on! Admit it! We all have watched that one movie we were not supposed to, right? bahahaha. I had the video games and a real life figure of Robocop my mom bought me. It was massive and game with moving parts and the gun that came out from his leg. I really loved that toy. My wife thinks I’m going through a mid-life crisis watching all these old childhood movies. If this is what a mid-life crisis feels like then yeah, more of that please. hahaha.

Looking at this movie again I’m amazed at how Robocop is a depiction of every saint or convert I’ve ever known. Take a closer look! The main character Alex is murdered by the world of crime gangs. He is then resurrected from the grave and given a new life. With this new life comes new body parts and abilities he had not had before. His old memory is wiped clean. It’s not entirely erased but he doesn’t remember much of his former life. He’s a new person now and far from retreating from the world, he heads back into it with more vigor and force than before and he literally kicks lots of ass.

To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind: And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth.

Every Christian saint having endured their spirit being murdered and corrupted by the sinful influence of the world has now been resurrected from their spiritual grave by the Lord. Like the transformation of Lazarus from the tomb in the Gospels Jesus shouts. “ARISE, NEW CREATURE!!!” With the assistance of God they’ve erased the old memory of who they once were and are now a new creation. Instead of being part machine and part human, they’re now part human and part Divine.

In addition to Love, Jesus gives them new abilities. Some fly (levitation like St.Joseph Cupertino). Others can bi-locate (St.Padre Pio) while others have Stigmata (Saint Francis of Assisi), discern the spirits or have all of these gifts. Their mission? To go back into the midst of those sinful worldly criminals and convert their souls. Instead of retreating from the world, like Robocop they head back into it to do battle with the invisible powers of darkness armed with the Lord and his pistol of humility.

Some enter monasteries and are no longer called “Alex” but change their name to “ROBOSAINT”. HAHAHA. So corny I know but what am I to do when there’s a need to show you how God speaks to us through the imperfect sinful and creative mind of Hollywood’s elitist?

Go out and become a ROBOSAINT today!!!. 😉
