On the way home from Mass I told my son about the importance of scriptures, how wisdom is found in them and the writings of the early fathers. This gave me the idea of doing another scripture study.
I turned off all the electrics and called my two sons for Bible study to which they protested as something boring. I sat in the middle of the couch and they sat either side of me. It wasn’t that easy to get their attention and a bit of shouting was involved in getting them orderly. When all fell silent I said a prayer. Not knowing what to study I opened the Bible at random and what did it land on?
The Holy book of Proverbs chapter four, first verse, “Listen, my sons, to a fathers instruction; pay attention, and learn what clear perception is.”

They were as quiet as little mouses after that. Recognising God speaking directly to them they didn’t dare to call it boring anymore. We read the rest of the chapter and they were full of questions. π€£
